As new drugs are being tested for Covid-19, researchers are testing for any arrhythmic effects.

While SARS-CoV-2 infection is the ultimate cause of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), abundant evidence suggests that host genetic factors mitigate both the risk of infection and the severity of disease progression. The aim of this project is to investigate human (host) genetic factors that influence Covid-19 outcomes.

• Under a Collaborative Research Agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), researchers are immunizing mice with coronavirus spike protein domains and virus-like particle immunogens designed by the team.

To explore the antiviral potential of Georgia Tech’s library of natural products that were previously discovered through an existing drug discovery program funded by the National Institutes of Health. These small molecules are structurally unique and not commercially available.

The objective of this project is to quickly transform the sensor system based on waveguide interferometry to a portable and field-usable ELISA test platform for rapid screening for the presence of antibodies specific to SARS-CoV-2 in blood.

Repurposing FDA-approved drugs to treat Covid-19 patients could provide a fast, relatively safe strategy for possible patient treatment. Researchers applied a knowledge-based approach to conduct virtual ligand screening of the coronavirus proteome on 6,000 FDA-approved and experimental drugs.
